Which CAD software to use to create DXF file.

There have been some questions from our community asking, which CAD softwares provide DXF files? This short blog post is dedicated to CAD programs that use and provide DXF files.

As you probably know already, DXF file format is the basis to get instant pricing at Fractory. Unlike DWG, DXF is an open source file format. Here are a few commonly used softwares in CAD world to exchange data between different vector graphics programs:

  • AutoCAD by AutoDesk
  • SolidWorks
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Scan2CAD
  • CorelCAD.

And then there are many more programs that support DXF – free and paid, professional and amateur. Here’s a short list.

Open Office and PaintShop Pro. IMSI TurboCAD, SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer, DWG2Image Converter, and OpenOffice.org Draw on Microsoft Windows; IMSI TurboCAD, SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer, OpenOffice.org Draw supports DXF files too.
